United Nations  New York  March 29, 1965

At the invitation of the Secretary-General, united states astronauts
Virgil I Grissom and John W Young, accompanied by Vice-President Hubert
H. Humphrey and Mayor Robert F. Wagner, today visited United Nations
Headquarters.  They were met on arrival by Ralph J. Bunche,
Under-Secretary for Special Political Affairs, and Pierre de
Meulemeester, Chief of Protocol.  The Secretary-General received the
Vice-President, the Mayor, and the astronauts at a reception on the 38th
floor and introduced them to representatives of members of the Security
Council and of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, and to
Secretariat officals.
