On the morning of the GT-3 launch, Astronauts Virgil I .(Gus) Grissom and John W. Young are shown on their way to breakfast after spending the night in the crew quarters in the Manned Spacecraft Operations Building on Merritt Island. The Gemini crew was awakened at 4:40 a.m., by Donald K. Slayton, assistant director for Flight Crew Operations, Manned Spacecraft Center. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Gemini flight was scheduled for 9 a. m., March 23.
