Kennedy Space Center, FL - Space Shuttle prime astronaut crew Commander John Young (left) and Pilot Bob Crippen (right) at launch pad 39A during training on the emergency pad escape system known as the "slidewire".  The crew wore the spacesuits and other equipment they will wear during a mission.  The slidewire system provides a quick and sure escape from the upper pad platform in case of a serious emergency.
